OH. EM. GLEE

YES - I am a Gleek.
For months now my good friend Kate and I have drooled over outfits worn by Quinn Fabray (Dianna Agron), Rachel Berry (Lea Michele), and even more recently wished that our husbands dressed like Blaine Anderson (Darren Criss).  So last night we're watching the new episode and Kate says "Quinn looks like she walked straight out of an Anthropologie magazine" and she was right.

This dress is in fact: Anthropologie Glinting Persica Sweater Dress - $89.95
Worn with: Anthropologie belt and Anthropologie boots

I know it's kind of amazing.

For months we've been drooling and wondering when really this whole time there has been a site that tells who wore what and when - and even more importantly where you can get it and for how much. You can even "shop" by characters and episodes,  what more could you ask for?

Interested? Click HERE

The good news is -- some of the outfits are EXTREMELY affordable.  Don't worry I plan on sharing some of my favorites with you, I just had to get the really exciting news out of the way first!

Lace Lace and More Lace

I love that lace is no longer strictly to be worn on your wedding day. However if you listen to the sales people at a Bridal Boutique this is what they will tell you --  "Your wedding day is the only day you will be able to get away with wearing lace!" (reason #8273623 that I almost bought a lace gown) but alas this is NO LONGER TRUE MY FRIENDS

Lace has slowly been making a comeback. Sadly I myself do not own any lace that can be worn outside of the bedroom but I plan on updating my wardrobe and here are some of the lacy looks that I'm <3 LOVING <3

SEE?! So I suggest that we all go out and buy (if you don't already own ...) something lacy. AND if the above images havn't already convinced you of this fact here are a couple more:

  1. It's super girly
  2. It's super sexy
  3. It's our right as women to be girly and sexy :)
Ok so #3 doesn't really count but 1 and 2 are excellent points.

HAPPY MONDAY

DIY Christmas Wreath

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday - hopefully you got to spend it with your family and friends!

Hobby Lobby is having a 50% off sale on all Christmas items, so on Wednesday I ventured out and decided I needed to buy a Christmas Wreath while they were on sale. Silly me not knowing that a beautiful premade wreath that will last for years on end costs upwards of $60 - most were in the $100 range, and yes at 50% it is a really good dea l-- I was none-the-less appalled.

So as I walked around the store lamenting the fact that I would yet again go without a wreath on my front door, I suddenly had a pinterest flashback and thought to myself "I could totalllllly make a wreath".

Here are some of the images that sparked my creativity - however my wreath looks nothing like these...

I especially love the growingly popular ornament wreath but I know I'm not that crafty...

On with the story: For $18 and some change I bought everything I needed including the door hanger.

You will also need scissors annnnd patience.

First I "poofed" up my fake wreath and hung it on a door to make it a little eaiser to wrap with ribbon.

After wrapping it with the ribbon I centered the wreath and hung the "L" - which was actually just an ornament.

NEXT: I took the excess ribbon and made a BIG BOW.

Attach the BIG BOW.

Finally, add decorations such as pinecones, flowers, etc.

VIOLA! Personalized Christmas Wreath for less then $20 and made in less the 20 minutes.

Happy Friday Everyone!

"You make me happy, when skies are gray..."

Oh mustard blazer, how I love thee.

How I love mustard colored anything this year, really - Mustard might be the new black...(for 2011 at least)

I lucked out and found my blazer at the Charlotte Russe outlet on a recent shopping adventure with my good friend Kate for a mere $15.00 --  A STEAL for real. I like to think that I bought my blazer before the mustard take over but the truth is, I didn't.

Steal or not I love this blazer (and outfit) and who couldn't use some Sunshine on this Windy Gray Day?

Happy Hump Day before Turkey Day!

"Tuesday, you see, she had to be free..."

So I know that I said "Stay tuned - I'm making Beef Stew for dinner" and I did - but it didn't come out quite as good as I was hoping and until I find a blog worthy recipe for Beef Stew I am refusing to post it. I'm afraid that nothing is going to compare to my Potato Soup (recipe found HERE) which is kind of a scary thought since I'm still somewhat new to the world of cooking.

Luckily my outfit today is kind of cute - I've decided that if I had riding boots it would be cuter but Christmas is just around the corner (hint hint).

NOTE** I said kind of cute, and I didn't want to leave you guys hanging.

The title of today's post was borrowed from Lynyrd Skynyrd - Tuesday's Gone.

Happy Rainy (ugh) Tuesday!

I was a DIY Bride!

I have a case of the Mondays... I can't seem to focus on anything and my outfit is a complete disgrace... so I thought I would share a little bit about my past.

My husband and I were married on August 6th of this year at a beautiful venue in our home town - The George Washington Hotel. The problem when you have a budget and a beautiful venue (that absorbs said budget) is that you have to decide pretty quickly how much you're willing to spend on what - either an elaborate dress or elaborate centerpieces. I chose the dress.  That being said my bridesmaids and I did most of the decorations and almost all of the stationary items ourselves.

It sounds harder then it was - I had a vision that I knew I could make happen.... and I did. It came together perfectly - my only regret now is that there are not enough pictures of what I worked so hard on!

My Garter - handmade by my mom total cost about $10.00

Our Programs (doubled as fans) had an engagement picture on  one side and the  VIP's on the other, total cost $50.00

Escort Cards - Blue flowers for beef, Cream flowers for chicken total cost $20.00

Ceremony Decorations - Vintage Blue Bottles and cheap flowers and peacock feathers total cost $30.00

My creation! The tall vases at the front of the room doubled as centerpieces for the tables - curly willow branches lined the aisles and then were doubled as room decoration during the reception. Total cost spent on flowers & decorations $500.00

The total cost of our wedding was more then I'd like to admit, but compared to the average cost of an american wedding ($21,500) we were WAY below that. We had 150 guests with a sit down dinner & open bar, a DJ that rocked, a photo-booth that doubled as our guest book, and an amazing venue. In return I received memories that I will cherish forever.

Stay tuned - I'm making crock pot beef stew for dinner tonight!
